Love white in all its shades. When anything needs renewed or changed in my house, I replace it with white or pale grey. That backdrop allows me to add color by season or by month. Aqua in January, orchid at Easter, turquoise in the Summer, etc. By using white as the base, it only takes three colored items to make the room look that color, a purple pillow, piece of art with purple in it, purple fresh flowers, etc. By switching out the colors frequently, you don’t tire of them. I also love the simplicity of Swedish pieces in a white or grey room — just fabulous and doesn’t go out of style like trendy things.
